Seven students from United College participated in the “Hong Kong Youth Tianjin Internship Programme 2024” this summer, organised by the Hong Kong-Tianjin Business and Professional Women’s Association, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union, and the Choi Koon Shum Foundation. The organisers matched the students with the most suitable internship positions in Tianjin based on their interests, aspirations, and academic backgrounds, covering various industries such as healthcare, legal affairs, real estate construction, finance, cultural education, and new media.

The Graduation and Award Presentation Ceremony were held recently at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, attended by Mr Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, and Mr Wong Yi-yeh, Deputy Division Chief of the Department of Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR. Nearly a hundred participants and their parents attended, sharing their internship experiences in Tianjin.

Mrs Janice Choi, a representative of the Organisers and College Trustee, said, “I want to commend all the graduates who completed the six-week internship in Tianjin for their efforts and adaptability. They were able to integrate into the life and work environment in Tianjin, diligently learning and performing excellently in their internship positions. We hope that each student can apply the rich and valuable experiences gained from this internship to their future academic and career paths, contributing to the progress and development of Hong Kong and the country.”

UC student, Ms Shirley Mui was matched to participate in an internship at Tianjin First Central Hospital. She expressed her gratitude for the College’s promotion of the Hong Kong Youth Tianjin Internship Programme. During the six-week internship, she gained a lot of valuable practical experience, which has given her more confidence in becoming an excellent medical professional in the future.
