Local Wooden Coaster DIY at HK TimberBank X Stroll in Nam Sang Wai

The College Environment Committee organised a green trip on 2 November 2024. Participants paid a visit to the HK TimberBank and participated in a Local Wooden Coaster DIY Workshop. The trip ended with a walk in Nam Sang Wai, making it a perfect conclusion.

To begin with, participants embarked on a guided tour of the HK TimberBank. Participants learned about the source and processing of wood, and how the organisation transforms fallen trees into valuable wooden products, promoting sustainability.

In the Local Wooden Coaster DIY Workshop, participants crafted their own unique wooden coasters under the guidance of the staff, experiencing the joy of woodworking.

After the activities at the HK TimberBank, participants strolled through Nam Sang Wai, enjoying the natural scenery. Nam Sang Wai Ferry is the only human-powered ferry route in Hong Kong, and participants certainly didn’t miss the chance to experience this historic mode of water transport.

Participants appreciated the tranquility and beauty of nature in Nam Sang Wai.

The vision and efforts of the HK TimberBank demonstrated the possibilities of sustainable development. Additionally, the Committee hopes to help students unwind from their busy university life, appreciate the beauty of nature, and find inner peace.
