The UC Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme: Year of Grace Chow 2024-2025, co-organised by the College and the College Alumni Association, held its 3^rd event of this year on 18 January 2025— a visit to the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO). It was also the second visit activity of this year.

40 mentors and mentees were guided by College alumnus and mentor — Dr Wallace S W Chan, Acting Senior Scientific Officer, and CUHK alumnus — Ms Queenie C C Lam, Senior Scientific Officer, to gain insights into the daily operations of HKO, both in front of and behind the scenes. Dr Chan and Ms Lam led mentors and mentees through various facilities of HKO, including Central Forecasting Office, Meteorology Garden, and History Room, where they learnt about the history, meteorological monitoring, and weather forecasting work of the HKO.

Mentors and mentees expressed that this was a precious opportunity to visit and understand the operations of HKO.
