【UC GOAL 2024】Growth through Practice: Service Learning Internship Programme

Six UC students participated in the Service Learning Internship Programme under the Globe-Oriented Active Learning (GOAL) Programme this summer, gaining valuable experiences, broadening their horizons, and improving their interpersonal skills.

From 19 June to 30 July 2024, three of them were attached to the Toy Library in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Under the guidance of the library staff, they prepared materials and games, and assisted children in various activities. This experience not only enhanced their interaction with children but also developed their patience, communication, and leadership skills.

The other three students participated in a two-week service learning activity at Shumei Natural Farm in Nanao from June to July. They engaged in crop planting and ecological conservation work, learning about the symbiotic relationship between natural farming and the earth, and gaining knowledge about natural organic fertilizers and pesticides. This unique farm experience provided them with an in-depth understanding of the value of organic farming and the importance of sustainable development.

By providing services in different places, these six students had the opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to better understand and respect different cultures and values.
