United College 68th Anniversary Celebrations
To celebrate the 68th College anniversary, the College and the College Student Union jointly prepared a series of celebration activities for staff, students, and alumni. Let’s recap the exciting events of UC68 together!
Anniversary Ceremony (18 October)
The 68th Anniversary Ceremony of the College was held on 18 October 2024 at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. The College invited Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees, and Mr Michael K M Hui, awardee of the 40th Hong Kong Film Awards Lifetime Achievement and college alumnus, to officiate the Ceremony and deliver speeches. The College also took this memorable occasion to present the honourable “United College Mr and Mrs Joseph W N Cheung Research Excellence Awards”, which encourages excellence in research among the College members, to Professor Inoue Tomohiro of the Department of Psychology, the recipient of this year’s award. The College also presented the College graduates’ highest honours “United College Ming De Scholarship“ and “United College Xin Min Scholarship“ to Miss Kwok Kin Ling (24/IBBA) and Mr Hui Chun Kit (24/CHILL) respectively.

Additionally, in the presence of the ceremony guests, Professor Stephen H S Wong, Head of United College, and Professor Lu Zongli, Head of Ling College at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), signed a sister college agreement, promoting further collaboration and exchange between the two colleges.
The College Staff Association donated a 50-pound cake for guests, college members and students to celebrate the anniversary together.

Opening Ceremony of Student Celebration Activities and UC Run (18 October)
The Anniversary Student Activities have returned to United College. This year, the organising committee diligently prepared a series of activities with the theme of comics and decorated the campus with colourful decorations, creating a festive atmosphere during the anniversary celebration. At the opening ceremony of the student activities, the organising committee prepared performances to showcase their enthusiasm and dedication to guests and participants. On the same day, the UC Run was held, filling the entire campus with laughter and energy.

Anniversary Ball (23 October)
The organising committee transformed the Thomas H C Cheung Gymnasium into a ballroom. Handcrafted decorations, combined with dazzling lights, created a dreamlike atmosphere. Participants enjoyed wonderful performances and invited others to dance, making precious memories.

Open Bazaar (25 October)
The area outside the Cheung Shuk Shan Amenities Building were decorated with beautifully designed decorations for participants to take photos and check-in. Various booths offered food, drinks, handcrafts, and accessories, along with different booth games. The stage featured continuous exciting performances, creating a lively atmosphere.
Numerous booths of Open Bazaar filled up the area outside Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Building.
College guests officiated the opening ceremony of Open Bazaar.

Feast For A Thousand (1 November)
Feast For A Thousand brought alumni, staff and students together, offering them the opportunity to enjoy delicious dishes, participate in a lucky draw, and watch amazing performances on stage. The atmosphere was incredibly lively!

68 tables were prepared for the Feast For A Thousand event in celebration of the 68th anniversary!
