On 25 July 2024, Professor Stephen H S Wong, College Head, along with Professor Fung Kwok Pui and Professor Jimmy C M Yu, former College Heads, Professor Martin C S Wong, Associate Head and Dean of Students, Professor Tang Sze Wing, Associate Head, Dr Tony M H Chan, College Secretary, Professor Eunice L Y Tang, Warden of Ping Fan Hall,  and three student representatives of Ping Fan Hall, met and had lunch with Mr and Mrs Kenneth H C Fung, donors of Ping Fan Hall. After a decade, Mr and Mrs Kenneth H C Fung visited Ping Fan Hall again, interacting with student representatives and expressing their delight at the hall’s development and vibrant student activities. Mr Fung also shared the inspiring success story of his late father, Sir Fung Ping Fan Kenneth, encouraging the students with his father’s dedication and hard work.

The late Sir Fung Ping Fan Kenneth served as the Chairman of the United College Board of Trustees from 1962 to 1972, making significant contributions to the college’s development. In recognition of his efforts, Ping Fan Hall, one of the non-residential halls, was named after Sir Fung Ping Fan Kenneth from 1981.
