Mountain & Coastal Cleanup Action @Lung Ha Wan

The College Environment Committee and Green Hope co-organised an activity called “Mountain & Coastal Cleanup Action @Lung Ha Wan” on 22 February 2025. This event allowed participants to clean up trash along the trails and coastline, restoring the natural beauty of the area and giving them firsthand experience of the serious environmental pollution. It also encouraged them to actively contribute to environmental protection.

On the day of the activity, participants started from the Tai Hang Tun parking lot and discovered a large amount of trash along the way to Lung Ha Wan. This reflected a lack of civic responsibility among some visitors. Even before reaching the destination, participants had already collected a significant amount of trash.

Representative from Green Hope provided a brief introduction and distributed trash bags and grabbers to participants.

On the Lung Ha Wan Country Trail, participants already found a lot of trash that needed to be cleaned up.

Participants officially began the beach cleanup.

The participants discovered a significant amount of trash, including foam items, plastic bottles, and disposable utensils. This waste has severely impacted the ecology of Lung Ha Wan.

Thanks to the efforts of all participants, over 42 kg of waste was collected. Despite the students’ diligent efforts, it was impossible to remove all the trash, highlighting the severity of the marine litter problem. To thoroughly address this issue, everyone’s responsibility is crucial. Let’s start today by reducing waste at the source, refraining from throwing garbage into the ocean, and work together to protect the environment.
