【UC GOAL 2024】A Splendid Summer Journey in Oxford, UK
This summer, College students embarked on an enriching journey through the United Kingdom’s Culture and Language Programme at Hertford College, University of Oxford from 30 June to 13 July 2024. The programme included a series of interactive lectures at this world-renowned university, covering a diverse range of topics such as archaeology, current political and social issues, and the fascinating history of London. These lectures provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the subjects, sparking curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and offering a taste of the traditional tutorial system.

Beyond the classroom, students participated in exciting learning activities, including visits to prestigious museums such as the Ashmolean Museum and the British Museum. These visits allowed students to witness historical artifacts and artworks firsthand, deepening their appreciation for British culture and history.
Their dedicated Residential Assistants played a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience, organising cultural activities, and providing continuous support throughout the programme. Their efforts ensured that students were not only learning but also enjoying their time in the UK.

One of the highlights was the opportunity to sample a traditional afternoon tea in the historic dining rooms of Hertford College. The programme concluded with a memorable candle-lit gala dinner, an experience that will be cherished by all participants. This elegant event provided a perfect ending to the programme, allowing students to recap their experiences and celebrate their achievements.

Last but not least, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Honorary Adviser, Ms Shirley T S Lam of the English Language Teaching Unit, for her invaluable guidance and companionship throughout this journey.
