Why Donate to UC

The United College was founded in 1956 through the amalgamation of five colleges and there were only around 600 students upon its establishment. In 1963, it was incorporated as one of the three founding colleges of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Over the past years, it has committed to embodying the college motto, “Ming De Xin Min”,  through its holistic education that aims to nurture students as “UCians” for the community. The United College has currently over 3,000 students and more than 29,000 alumni. UCians have continuously worked hard in different fields to promote social development.  With your generous support, we will pass on the United spirit to more people and expand our work in contributing to the society.

“Studying hard strives me to become the first university student in my family, this scholarship is a great recognition for me. In the future, I will keep studying hard to accomplish higher academic results!”

“The scholarship has helped me to pursue my Ph.D. degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States of America. I’m now a Year 1 Ph.D. student majoring in Chemistry and my interest is in metal nano-catalyst designing. It is like a dream-come-true moment for me because I dreamed to become a chemist since I was six years old.”

“The scholarship would be an encouragement for me to cope with multifarious challenges. The delight of receiving help today will at the same time remind me of the importance of helping others in need. I would apply myself into helping others through the provision of medical services as a mean to contribute to the society.”

“Under the global pandemic, I am particularly thankful to the College for striving to send me to the Oulu University in Finland for an exchange programme. In this city with aurora, I have met a group of sincere friends from all over the world, and have experienced a new mode of education in the meantime enjoying the peacefulness of the forests and lakes. As a Geography student, I have learned to understand the world from a broader perspective. Four years’ time did fly, now when I look at the Water Tower of the United College far from the Tolo Highway, there is nothing bigger than my deepest gratitude to the College.”
