【UC GOAL 2024】An Immersive Journey Through Spanish Language and Culture

The Spanish Culture and Language Programme, co-organised by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, recently concluded in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Spain. From 1 to 15 June 2024, 13 College students embarked on a journey to immerse themselves in the Spanish culture, engage with Spanish-speaking communities, and explore the Spanish way of life.

To commence with, students actively participated in Spanish lessons, preparing themselves for the rich cultural experiences that awaited them. Additionally, this programme provided an invaluable opportunity for students to live with host families and engage in cultural exchange. Students practiced their Spanish in real-life situations, learnt about local customs, and formed lasting connections.

Visiting the Gothic District.

Dr Vicente Rasoamalala, the academic adviser, introduced the Spanish cuisine with the students.

One of the programme’s highlights was the exploration of the Gothic District. This historic district, echoing with tales and legends, offered a glimpse into Barcelona’s rich history. Our academic adviser, Dr Vicente Rasoamalala, played a pivotal role in enriching the students’ experience by introducing them to the delights of authentic Spanish cuisine.

Moreover, she led the students on a day trip to Girona, where they could delve into the historic charm and architectural wonders of Spain. As the students bid farewell to Barcelona, they carried not only rapid progress in their Spanish language skills but also a deeper appreciation for the beauty and diversity of Spanish culture, along with cherished lifelong memories.

If you are ready to embark on a journey of discovery and learning, please stay tuned and join us next year! Hasta la vista!
