The United College Student Wellness Programme (Wellness Programme) is an initiative established by United College since 2021 to promote mental health awareness and education among the College students. Its primary goals are to enhance students’ understanding of mental and psychological well-being through various activities and workshops, while also encouraging them to seek support from their peers and the College when necessary. By doing so, the Programme aims to establish a mentally healthy and supportive campus.
The College believes that everyone possesses the ability to inspire others. If students can identify signs of distress in their peers early on and offer initial support or seek assistance from professionals, it would greatly benefit not only the students themselves but also the College and the entire campus community. As a result, the UChum – College Peer Support Ambassadors Programme was established as part of the Wellness Programme.
Through an open recruitment and selection process, selected students undergo counselling skills and mental health first aid training. This equips the ambassadors with the necessary knowledge to identify students in need and promptly refer them for professional counselling. Additionally, they organise various activities aimed at promoting overall well-being within the campus community.
Chum means friends. We hope that the College and ambassadors can become your friends, accompanying you through the highs and lows of university life.
